Thursday Rant

As most of you are well aware the Olympic Games is coming up as of the 08/08/08 (ooooh!). As all this Olympic hype has been hyping itself into overdrive its got me thinking about Olympic video games.

As in, where the hell are they all? Well all the good ones anyway. Now before you start I know that the Olympics are only on every four years so logically there would only be a game out every four years but (I may justbe stupid) I cannot remember any Olympics game coming out for Athens? I am probably wrong but isn’t it worrying that it wasn’t notible enough for me to remember?

The Olympics is such a good opportunity for an awesome game, especially in the current generation with our online gaming, awesome graphics, motion controllers, achievements etc etc. The game if made well could be a monumental success.

How fun would it be swimming, running, shooting, judoing, or equestrianing against your friends via online? You could even incorporate drug cheating. You can elect whether or not you want to roid up, then you have to do extra stuff to try and get around the drug testing. Now that would be cool. Potentially you could be playing against five other roided up dudes in the final for the 100m sprint. Instead of sprinting they all get a bad case of roid rage and start brawling, wholah! You now have a brawler! Can you see the potential?

In all seriousness though the last decent Olympics game was Olympic Gold: Barcelona 92 on the Sega Master system. That was so much fun. Me and friends could sit there for hours playing against each other in the various events. That was good wholesome fun.

Heres hoping someone (not EA) do something good for the Olympics and bring out a kick arse game that will make our brothers in Communist China proud!
