I like Gameforge as much as the next guy. Browser games like Ogame and Ikariam prove they’re a factor in the browser game area, but some of their games are just not as good. Gladiatus is one of them. Gladiatus is a browser game in which you take the role of a gladiator in roman times. Ikariam is a game that has an ancient flavor coating to it, but at its core, it is a micro-managing game of city expansion, alliances, residents you must keep happy, and resource managing, all in a multiplayer world. When you create a new account, you’ll be started out with one city with a population of about 40 (I don’t remember the exact number). You’ll want to start building buildings that will make your population happier, but don’t forget to protect it as well!

The dawn of gaming saw the release of one of the most simplistic yet addicting games ever, featuring the absolute basic fundamentals of design – Pong. More than 30 years later, gamers are blessed with the luxury of lifelike, high-definition, motion-captured cinematics than most movies could only wish they looked like. The release of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots took console gaming to an entirely new level as the first truly interactive cinematic experience graced millions of homes worldwide.
But games are not just about their realism. There is a determined crowd among us who wish to tarnish the good name of video games; those that deny games as being works of art or a means of storytelling, rivaling that of books and movies. These are the moments we live for. The moments that stay with us longer than the happy endings. The ones that frighten us, disturb us, or make us question the developers’ – and our own – sanity. Full of violent outbursts, dismemberment, explicit and vulgar sexuality, and an atmosphere nearly unmatched, these handful of moments I present you with are the ones I feel have left the biggest impact on myself both memorably and hauntingly

The rules of Boomshine are simple: there are a number of balls bouncing around on the screen and you can detonate one small explosion at any time, anywhere on the screen. The goal is to set off a chain reaction that will hit a target number of balls off of that one explosion. Each level adds more bouncing balls and increases the target number to be hit. Think Missile Command (or more recently Every Extend) without any cities to defend.Boomshine is one of my favorite “I’m tense and need to chill out” games.
