Thursday Rant
As most of you are well aware the Olympic Games is coming up as of the 08/08/08 (ooooh!). As all this Olympic hype has been hyping itself into overdrive its got me thinking about Olympic video games.
As in, where the hell are they all? Well all the good ones anyway. Now before you start I know that the Olympics are only on every four years so logically there would only be a game out every four years but (I may justbe stupid) I cannot remember any Olympics game coming out for Athens? I am probably wrong but isn’t it worrying that it wasn’t notible enough for me to remember?

Wolfull’s Rumblings
Yesterday I made a post about Braid being released as one of the more ‘expensive’ Xbox Live Arcade games, and sadly a lot of gamers have had a negative reaction to the pricing.
I know from the demo that it will be a decent game, but pushing the price from the standard XBLA price of 800 points up to 1200 makes a huge psychological cost barrier for many gamers. The extra points is only equivalent to $5 bucks (the cost of a decent cup of coffee) yet for some reason a lot of gamers can’t push themselves to pay that extra amount.
On the official Braid website the creator has posted regarding this issue…

If there’s one thing that’s been established in a video game, it’s that you can rarely succeed without donning a full-bodied, hi-tech armored suit of some kind. Sometimes these very suits define the character; they are such iconic symbols that one immediately knows the game that they are from. In even rarer cases, the entire suit is ALL you know of the character, covering every inch of their body in every single game they’ve been featured. No face to put to the name, just an image of one badass suit.

In a recent interview Hironobu Takeshita, the producer of Capcom’s Mega Man 9, revealed a few more details about the upcoming retro revamp for Wiiware, Live and PSN.
First of all, the game is being co-developed with independent studio “Inti Creates” which is largely comprised of former Capcom employees. They are mostly known for their work on the Mega Man Zero and ZX games and a few staffers were even involved with the early NES games. Take a look at their delightfully Japanese website for what we can only assume are staff profiles, directions to the studio itself and some awesome anime style artwork.

Zeno Clash is an upcoming FPS currently in production by Chile based developers ‘ACE Team‘, it’s an action fantasy hybrid set in a punk fantasy world, with an amazingly original world.

Another Tuesday is upon us and that means it’s time for another installment of the Weekly Freebie (formerly Freebie Tuesday). This week we’re taking a look at 1999’s tactical shooter Hidden & Dangerous. Those of you who weren’t busy at the time hoarding toilet paper and pornography in preparation for Y2K probably recognize the name.
Hidden & Dangerous plays somewhat similar to the early Rainbow 6 games. Players must guide a squad of 4 SAS members through realistic military engagements. Getting shot even once can end a mission so you need to plan ahead, stay in the shadows and keep both eyes on the enemy as well as your men at all times.

There’s something about viral growth that is immensely appealing to me. Ok, well, not literal viruses (especially when my body is the host), but it’s cool to see how something can start so small and then grow so quickly. In this game, you’re presented with a hex grid full of small colored cells, and one cell infected by a virus (a.k.a – you!).

Feel the Beat like Music Catch is a timing based music flash game, played similar to the Guitar Hero style except instead of rocking out with a guitar you rock out using your Keyboard.
Notes represented as circles fall down the screen, and it’s your goal to press them as soon as they pass over the hollow circle to try to build up as long a combo as possible without missing a beat.
