I just got a heads up on an interesting Indie PC game coming out soon, CellZenith. CellZenith is a hybrid 3D/Top down shooter, in which you control a CEL(a ship) that you use for fast-paced ship to ship combat against opposing CELs, check out the trailer after the jump.
CellZenith features 30 story-driven levels where you have to defeat an unknown force and find your way back to earth.
Oddly their press release reads…
“CellZenith is being called the next ‘Geometry Wars’ and is anticipated to be the next hit downloadable title.”
Although personally I can’t see many similarities between the two except that both games have ’ships with weapons’, I suspect CellZenith may develop a cult following but will have difficulties making it main stream. We will have a full review up later in the week.
For the first two weeks it will be available for $14.99, otherwise it will be retailing at $19.99, the release date is September 30, check out the official site for more information.

Looks interesting, but as you said, not even slightly similar to Geo Wars. I wonder if it will sell well without a console release.

I think we all pretty much agree on that.
Personaly, it’s like a 2D fps, hard to describe.
