As a flash gaming enthusiast, there are times when you don’t want to play a popular or well-known game and are just looking for something that is relaxing and simple, but at the same time embodies the reason that you started playing flash games; to play great games that make you feel good. And, it is nice once in a while to find a game that doesn’t have the best graphics or gameplay, may not be made by a well known developer, but still has that special something that makes you want to go back and play it again. When these two situations meet, the result can be truly amazing. One game that falls into this category for me is Super Soldier.
I stumbled upon Super Soldier quite by accident when I was looking for another game, and in the end I spent most of the time playing this instead of the original game I had been looking for. As a game, it doesn’t have the greatest graphics in the world, probably doesn’t feature heavily on most gaming sites and isn’t exactly perfectly made. What it does provide, however, is that primal desire to spend 20 to 30 minutes just playing a truly great game.
Drawn by the person behind the art on Castle Crashers and Alien Hominid, the basic plot behind Super Soldier is a massive game of capture the flag. You start at one end of the map, and have to make your way to the other end, capturing the enemy’s structures as you go. Along the way, you will find other soldiers intent on stopping you from fulfilling your quest, but the developers have assisted you in this by equipping you with a super-gun, and also providing a tank and helicopter to even up the odds a little. Throw in a little bit of cartoonish gore, and you have a truly amazing game.

And what happens when you get to the end of the map? You start all over again. Your quest to rid the world (or at least the game world) of soldiers intent on destroying all of mankind (OK, little orange guys who try to shoot at you) is never over. And that is the beauty of this game. There are no achievements to unlock, no levels to beat or rewards to collect. Just a simple game where you have to shot at everyone else whilst stopping them from shooting at you. The game may seem like it would be repetitive, but I assure you that after a couple of plays you will be hooked on trying to beat your best score.
Super Soldier is a great game because of the fact that it is a great game. The cartoonish gore is suitable for all ages, and the game itself is a nice way to relax for however long you want. As great games go, this title truly stands out.
Casualty Gamer Tips:
- Spend some time getting used to the controls in the practice area at the start of the game. This will help later on.
- Your own bullets cannot hurt you, so don’t worry about firing on enemies who are right next to you.
- Park the helicopter as close to the openings as you can as this will help when you make the trip back.
- When you angle your shot, the next shot will be at that same angle, so remedy this whenever possible as it will save time later on.
