PSN Update: 25/09/08
By: DanZ | September 26th, 2008

The weekly round of PSN updates has gone live in all regions. Luckily this week there doesn’t appear to be anything so exceptional on the Japanese store that those of us who don’t speak Japanese need to bother trying to navigate it.

Both the European and North American stores were updated with retro blaster Mega Man 9 in both demo and full version flavors. Racing fans can get their DLC fix on as the popular (and excellent) racer Burnout Paradise is available as a PSN download this week in all regions except Australia. There are a couple of Burnout PSP games available now as well for you handheld junkies. The really big news? Wipeout HD is available for download now in all regions. There are some early reports of the game crashing in Europe, but we won’t let that spoil our fun. Look for full Casualty reviews on both Mega Man 9 and Wipeout HD shortly

Europe finally got the Mercs 2 demo that the rest of the world saw last week. It’s a fun little demo for anyone who didn’t jump the gun and grab it off another store already. Europeans also got the Beijing 2008 demo which probably should have been released months ago.

The North American specific update included not one, but two NBA games, a new action puzzler called GEON Emotions and a few more PSP games and demos.

Of course all the stores were updated with a nice array of trailers, themes, wallpapers, Rock Band/Guitar Hero DLC, etc. We won’t spill all the beans for you here since part of the fun of PSN Thursdays is exploring the “What’s New” section on your own, but if you haven’t already checked out the Valkyria Chronicles trailer I highly recommend it.

Until next week then, casualties. Happy gaming.
