We’ve thrown together a handy little guide for the very violent flash adventure “The Visitor“. This one is rated MA folks so make sure you’re over 18 if you plan to play this one…or just don’t let your parents catch you. We won’t tell. Read more… »

On Monday, Sony announced PS3 Firmware 2.50 and PSP Firmware 5.0. These may be the best firmware updates for both systems– for the PS3, it’s easily the best since the PS3 got trophies and in-game XMB. I have read that these will be coming out tomorrow, and that the PS3 will be getting Flash 9 support in addition to the features below, but I have yet to find official confirmation of this. The Playstation blog is notably silent.

Notice how goo kind of rhymes with review? Yeah, we planned that.
We’ve covered 2DBoy’s premier game World of Goo fairly extensively in the past so we were very excited to get our hands on a final build and really see what the game has to offer. I’ve spent the last 48 hours more or less steeped in the World of Goo and I must say I walked away very impressed. Everything about the game from it’s fantastic presentation, to the unique puzzles, to it’s quirky sense of humor just oozes with gooey quality.

If there is one particular brand of game that intrigues me most, then it must most certainly be puzzle games. Gamers themselves are a weird brand of people; where other people may give in, they will pursue a game to the very end, locked in a constant battle of wits with the game, never once daring to relax their concentration. This persistence is more than obvious when it comes to puzzle games, where not only is the game challenging you, but the developer themselves is seemingly mocking you from behind the scenes, laughing at every slip and mistake. And to give in to such ridicule would be unthinkable.
Here’s an interesting title to watch out for from a very talented artist by the name of John Green. In Nearly Departed, players will take control of a “reluctant zombie” trying to make his way in the big city. Read more… »

We are a bit behind but Sony continues to impress with the massive PS Store upgrades. Here’s what you have to choose from this week, and if you can’t find something you like this week, you may need to have your pulse checked.

Skullpogo is one of those games that really blindsided me, almost out of nowhere came this ultra addictive pogo stick based action game.

Editors note: HailtoTheGun has provided us with many great lists since Casualty Gamer first launched, and this is his list I’ve held out on publishing for the longest. Definitely not because it’s bad, it’s far from it, but purely because of my own obsession on article pacing and finding the right time for it.
So now for a relaxing Sundays morning read is HailToTheGun’s personal Top 20 favouite games, enjoy.

Maybe from your youth you can remember when interactive movies were popular, games such as Dragon Lair, Space Ace, Mad Dog McCree… Well I’m a massive fan of them so I took it upon myself to track down the company responsible for the re-releasing of them and get the latest information.
Thus in our continuing coverage of the casual gaming world we decided to take a temporary step in a kinda different direction, the interactive DVD market. Digital Leisure is the biggest in that field so we thought it best to do a quick catch up and see what’s on the horizon.
The beta of ‘Zompocalypse’ the brainchild of two Aussie game developers is finally out for public testing, and in my opinion… is truely awesome. In Zompocalypse equipped with destructive weaponry take on hordes of Zombies, solo or with a partner… Think Metal Slug except zombiefied and you’ll be get a rough idea of what this game is like.
There is still a bundle of bugs to be ironed out, but for an early beta Zompocalypse is shaping up very nicely, and for some co-op carnage I’ll definitely be getting a copy of the full version, find the download after the jump.
