In another attempt to get more activity on our forums we have launched ‘Forums games‘, where users on the forum can compete against each other for the highest flash gaming scores. The current game selection is the just the standard affair but expect a bunch of new (..and decent) games to be added over the coming week.

Streets of Rage is a side-scrolling beat ‘em up with a plot like a bad ‘80s action movie. Luckily, mindless action movies make for great fun in videogame form when done right. This game’s simple plot involves three ex-cops taking the law into their own hands in an attempt to rid their city of a “secret criminal syndicate”. While Streets of Rage has a lot in common with several other beat ‘em ups of the time, there are numerous elements that make it stand out as one of the best.

Super Mario Bros has been written about so many times that its hard to know what to say about it that hasn’t been said already. This is basically the prototypical platform game that started a franchise and helped Nintendo become the household name it is today. The sequel to the 1983 game Mario Bros, and the third game to feature Mario (although he was known only as “Jumpman” in his Donkey Kong debut), Super Mario Bros follows the story of an Italian plumber (and his brother Luigi in two-player mode) attempting to rescue a Princess named Peach (or Toadstool, depending on where you lived) from the evil Bowser, king of the Koopas. This all takes place in the Mushroom Kingdom of course, where annoying Goombas, naughty turtles and cloud-riding gimps are all out to give the Mario Brothers a hard time.

Remember the first video game character who really got under your skin? For some of you it may have been that dam dog from Duck Hunt. If you’re a younger gamer, maybe you weren’t really irritated by a game until the end of Portal when you learned the truth about the cake.
The point is, we’ve pretty much all been annoyed by a gaming character at one point or another. So, in the spirit of getting things off our chests, CG is counting down our top 10 most annoying video game characters of all time. Of course this is the sort of list that will vary greatly from person to person, so feel free to rant and rave in the comments section.

Golden Axe is a game I’ve played on and off since childhood but never managed to complete. I’ve come oh-so-close on many occasions, but never quite finished the job. This is possibly the main reason I continue to play the game, as some of the gameplay elements leave a lot to be desired…
My favourite Ninja Turtles game of all time is TMNT IV: Turtles In Time. Let me assure you, this is not a conclusion I’ve reached willy nilly. When I was younger I was the biggest Ninja Turtle fan ever. I was at the right age to be drawn in by the cartoons; the catchy theme tune, colourful characters and humour of the show had me hooked. I had all the toys, videos and I even got a picture printed in the fan section of the comic one year. Michaelangelo was my favourite turtle; he was the funny one and had the coolest weapon – nunchuks! When I was about 8 years old and turtle-crazy my mum made me an awesome Michaelangelo cake for my birthday… I was easily the coolest kid on my block that day. But I digress…
I just felt it important you knew that this review comes from a biiig Ninja Turtles fan. I only actually played this game for the first time about a year ago, but I was so impressed by it that I’ve revisited it regularly ever since.

Paperboy is one of those odd videogames from the 80’s that isn’t about aliens, vampires, monsters or mushroom kingdoms. This is a game about completing a week’s paper round. Of course there’s more to it, but that is the basic premise. In 1984 Atari created this arcade game where you guide a nameless paper delivery boy on his bicycle from one end of the street to the other end, avoiding hazards and striving for that perfect delivery, over seven days/levels.

From way back in 1993 when the PC was chock full of quality 2D platformers comes Halloween Harry! Harry has to save the world from aliens who want to take over the world by turning all the humans into Zombies… What a Nightmare!!

After a small break a new episode TakeTwo is now available with a trippy new look, this weeks episode focuses on the controversy games have provided. Watch the episode after the jump.
