Narrowing down the top 10 RPGs on the PSX is no simple task. Much like the Genesis was famous for its sports games and the original Xbox became synonymous with first person shooters, the PSX was undoubtedly the greatest system of all time for RPG gamers.
With literally hundreds of titles to choose from ranging from abysmal to genre defining, we knew it would be impossible to come up with a list everyone will agree with. Even creating a list we’re happy with here at CG was a challenge, but we dug in our heels, laced up our boots and dove in anyway. Three days, four black eyes, countless Red Bull, numerous fractures/contusions and even one pillow fight later we’re finished. This is Casualty Gamer’s top 10 RPGs for the PSX. Read more… »

TakeTwo is back for its weekly episode, this week it’s another retro throwbacks to days when arcades were still popular.
Although sadly(for us) our voice actor Keith got a job so we salute him and wave goodbye as he enters the world of corporate gaming… This does leave us with a small problem though, we need a new voice actor, so if you would like to join the TakeTwo Team leave us a message here, or shoot us off an email.
Nonetheless, watch it here and enjoy.

I get to play a lot of cool indie games while scouring the web for these Casualty Diversions, but it’s not often I find something as unique and original as Seiklus. This game was created by one man using one of those “game maker” packages and released a full 5 years ago. Since then it has built up a strong following around the casual gaming community and become something of an icon among indie game devs. Read more… »

A few of us here at Casualty Gamer are big fans of the point and click adventure games of old. You can imagine my surprise, then, when I heard that a freeware adventure game called A Tale Of Two Kingdoms (ATTK) that closely mimics they style of the classic Sierra adventures had been released almost a year ago and I completely missed it. What was even more surprising, albeit in a pleasant way, was that the game turned out to be really great. Read more… »

I stumbled across this gem of a game while searching for something to play on my old laptop. AstroMenace is an overhead shooter that plays a lot like the arcade shooters of old, but with all the graphical bells and whistles we’ve come to expect from newer games. Like Galaga you’ll be blasting wave after wave of enemies who, luckily, only seem to attack using very specific patterns. Read more… »

Get equipped…with retro greatness!
Before the nuts-and-bolts review, first a story that old school Megaman gamers will appreciate.
In anticipation of Megaman 9’s release, I blew through MM2 and MM3 the week before. Despite the fact that I hadn’t played them in years, I completed them without much effort. Shocking for me, since when I was younger, they both caused me great angst, cursing, and controller throwing. And yet, here I am, crushing both of them with the expertise of a speed runner. I was worried; was Megaman truly not the great challenge I once thought it to be? And will the same translate into the 9th edition? My fears really became heightened when I first began playing Megaman 9. I began with Galaxy Man’s stage, since I had heard through the grapevine that he was the “first” boss that should be conquered. I sped through the stage and downed Galaxy Man on the first try. Without losing a single life. Now I had real doubts about the “challenge” that MM9 was going to deliver. Read more… »

Alright, you’re a PS3 owner that’s sick and tired of hearing about all the awesome games on Xbox Live Arcade from your buddies. Geometry Wars, Braid, Castle Crashers, and all the rest. Well fret not my friend, because your shiny black box has plenty gaming goodness just waiting for you to sink your teeth into. These 10 games are available exclusively on the PSN, because without exclusives, how can you rub it in your friend’s faces? Read more… »

Now that the video game business is a bigger industry than even movies we’re starting to see games coming out based on just about everything. As gamers, one would think we’d be excited to see our hobby of choice getting so much attention, but the sad truth is some IPs just don’t make good games. To prove my point I’ve decided to take a look at some of the worst. Just be glad I did it so you won’t have to.

TakeTwo is back for its record breaking 5th episode! This weeks episode is featuring the history of gaming Mascots and how they came to be.
So strap yourself in and watch the latest episode here.

This week’s edition of the weekly freebie may seem little late, but it’s still Tuesday in some parts of the world so technically speaking we’re right on schedule.
We’re not featuring a game per-se this week. M.U.G.E.N. is more of a set of tools for aspiring artists and programmers to work with to create their own fighting games. Luckily for those of us who prefer to just play games, there are tons of great characters and levels freely available.
