Indie Spotlight: Skullpogo
By: Colin Robinson | October 13th, 2008

Skullpogo is one of those games that really blindsided me, almost out of nowhere came this ultra addictive pogo stick based action game.

Zompocalypse Beta
By: Colin Robinson | October 11th, 2008

The beta of ‘Zompocalypse’ the brainchild of two Aussie game developers is finally out for public testing, and in my opinion… is truely awesome. In Zompocalypse equipped with destructive weaponry take on hordes of Zombies, solo or with a partner… Think Metal Slug except zombiefied and you’ll be get a rough idea of what this game is like.

There is still a bundle of bugs to be ironed out, but for an early beta Zompocalypse is shaping up very nicely, and for some co-op carnage I’ll definitely be getting a copy of the full version, find the download after the jump.

Freeware Review: Clean Asia
By: Spkl | October 10th, 2008

Clean Asia is a quirky indie shmup (shoot ‘em ups for those not in the know) by Cactus, an indie game developer from Sweden. This game has been out for a while and it is generally well regarded, so if you play indie games, you may have already played it. Nevertheless, this game still deserves a review, for being so awesome. Read more… »

Spotlight: Dizzy and the Other Side
By: DanZ | October 10th, 2008

Dizzy and the Other Side is an entirely free, fan made, sequel in the once popular “Dizzy” games series. The gameplay should be very familiar for anyone who’s played a Dizzy game in the past. You’ll jump and roll your way through a sort of 2d open world environment, solving puzzles and interacting with the other egg people. The story in this game revolves around Dizzy’s quest to retrieve an artifact for a quasi-evil wizard who’s blackmailing him. It’s a light hearted affair. Read more… »

As we previously covered the TIGS demake competition here, here, and here it seems only fitting that we report the final results, sadly neither of our favorite games won although both placed within the top 4.

The top 10 are…

Weekly Freebie: TAGAP
By: DanZ | October 8th, 2008

TAGAP. The Apocalyptic Game About Penguins. It’s quite possibly the best Finnish made, action shooter about penguins you’ll ever play. It also happens to be just about the best looking freeware game I’ve ever seen. Read more… »

Casualty Review: Iji
By: DanZ | October 6th, 2008

Since we featured Iji as the #1 game in our September indie roundup video we thought it would be a good idea to post a full review here as well. Obviously if you’ve seen the video you know we really liked the game. Here’s why. Read more… »

2DBoy is a brand new studio founded by the very talented Kyle Gabler and Ron Carmel. Their first game “World of Goo” which was inspired by Tower of Goo, will be releasing shortly and, if early reviews are any indication, it’s going to be awesome. We’ll have a full review up soon enough and maybe a few other gooey surprises for you, but, in the meantime, we were given the opportunity to sit down (virtually) with Kyle and ask him a few questions.

I feel I should warn everyone ahead of time that our line of questioning and some of Kyle’s answers cover everything from lancing strange growths, to Jack Black, to glorious ways to end ones’ own life, so read ahead with caution and an open mind.

Weekly Freebie: A Tale Of Two Kingdoms
By: DanZ | September 30th, 2008

A few of us here at Casualty Gamer are big fans of the point and click adventure games of old. You can imagine my surprise, then, when I heard that a freeware adventure game called A Tale Of Two Kingdoms (ATTK) that closely mimics they style of the classic Sierra adventures had been released almost a year ago and I completely missed it. What was even more surprising, albeit in a pleasant way, was that the game turned out to be really great. Read more… »

Casualty Diversions: AstroMenace
By: DanZ | September 30th, 2008

I stumbled across this gem of a game while searching for something to play on my old laptop. AstroMenace is an overhead shooter that plays a lot like the arcade shooters of old, but with all the graphical bells and whistles we’ve come to expect from newer games. Like Galaga you’ll be blasting wave after wave of enemies who, luckily, only seem to attack using very specific patterns. Read more… »
