If there’s one thing that’s been established in a video game, it’s that you can rarely succeed without donning a full-bodied, hi-tech armored suit of some kind. Sometimes these very suits define the character; they are such iconic symbols that one immediately knows the game that they are from. In even rarer cases, the entire suit is ALL you know of the character, covering every inch of their body in every single game they’ve been featured. No face to put to the name, just an image of one badass suit.

Even More Mega Man News

In a recent interview Hironobu Takeshita, the producer of Capcom’s Mega Man 9, revealed a few more details about the upcoming retro revamp for Wiiware, Live and PSN.

First of all, the game is being co-developed with independent studio “Inti Creates” which is largely comprised of former Capcom employees. They are mostly known for their work on the Mega Man Zero and ZX games and a few staffers were even involved with the early NES games. Take a look at their delightfully Japanese website for what we can only assume are staff profiles, directions to the studio itself and some awesome anime style artwork.

Retro Mega Man Update

David Crislip, an assistant producer at Capcom, has revealed some interesting news on his company blog.

According to Crislip, Mega Man 9, the hotly anticipated old school Mega Man being produced for Live, PSN and Nintendo’s Virtual Console is scheduled to arrive this September. As an added bonus for Wii owners, Capcom is releasing the original NES version of Mega Man on VC this Monday, August 4th. Hey, that’s tomorrow!

According to the Marketing Manager for Lucus Arts, Mat Shell, the demo will released some time in August, approximately a month before the game’s September 16th release date.

The demo will feature a special version of the Tie Fighter Contruction Facility, will have different force powers to use, and will have a different ending than what you will experience in the final product.

Matt Shell confirmed that the demo will be made a available on both Xbox Live and PSN.

Pixel Junk Eden Impressions

Those of you with PS3s may have noticed that a demo for the latest game in Q Games’ Pixeljunk series “Eden” appeared this week as part of the weekly PSN update.

For anyone who hasn’t had a chance to download it yet, let me be the first to say that the game is absolutely gorgeous. I haven’t seen a game with such a unique visual style since Okami came out back in the PS2 days. It’s a fitting tribute to what developers can accomplish with these modern consoles even without benefit of a gigantic budget.

A Rock Band developer on the official Rock Band forums has confirmed that four new songs are due to hit Xbox Live and PSN next week. They are songs from Testament, Scars on Broadway, Staind, and The New No 2. The Scars on Broadway and the Staind track’s are both singles from their new albums being released through Rock Band, and all four tracks are master recordings.

Apparently the problem with the Torque Engine on which Penny Arcade: On The Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness was created has been fixed, because it is coming to the PSN this fall.The price is said to be the same as the Xbox and PC versions so expect to buy it for around $20.
